Language

Lebanon is a multilingual country where Arabic is the official language, spoken by the majority of the population. Lebanese Arabic, a local dialect, is the most widely used in daily conversations. French and English are also widely spoken. Additionally, some communities in Lebanon speak Armenian, and few speak Syriac, reflecting the country’s diverse cultural heritage.

Weather & What to Pack

October is an excellent time to visit Lebanon, offering mild Mediterranean weather, comfortable daytime temperatures, and the beautiful colors of autumn. It is a great season to explore Beirut, enjoy the coastline, visit Lebanon’s mountains and valleys, and experience the country’s cultural and natural attractions. As temperatures become cooler toward the end of the month, it is best to pack for both warm days and cooler evenings.

These are estimated temperatures and may vary depending on the region, altitude, and weather conditions:

  • Beirut & Coastal Areas: Temperatures generally range from 20°C to 28°C (68°F to 82°F), with warm, pleasant days and cooler evenings.
  • Mountains (e.g., Faraya, Cedars, Chouf): Expect cooler temperatures, generally around 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), with significantly cooler evenings at higher altitudes.
  • Bekaa Valley: Temperatures are generally cooler than the coast, with daytime temperatures around 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F) and cooler nights.

October is generally a comfortable and relatively mild month, although occasional rain showers can occur, particularly toward the latter part of the month. Visitors planning to explore both the coast and mountains are advised to bring light layers, a light jacket, and comfortable shoes to accommodate changing temperatures and conditions.
