The mission of the Lebanese Geotechnical Engineering Society is to bring together geotechnical engineers who are interested in the exchange and dissemination of knowledge and experience in their profession, with the view of contributing to the achievement of excellence in geotechnical engineering, for the benefit of society.
LGES aims to adhere to the ISSMGE standards, promoting international cooperation amongst engineers and scientists for the advancement of knowledge in the field of geotechnics and its engineering applications.
In previous years, it organized regular local technical meetings, site visits, and seminars for its members. Today, the LGES is organizing and hosting the inaugural Pan Mediterranean Geotechnical Engineering Conference in 2026 under the auspices of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and the Order of Engineers and Architects (OEA) in Lebanon.
The ISSMGE board endorsed the creation of this regional conference and its recurrence every four years in one Mediterranean country. We are taking the lead in 2026!
